Hey there!

I figured I would use this space to explain why I am maintaining this website, who I am, that kind of thing. I've had the website for awhile, but it wasn't until I moved (rather suddenly) to Los Angeles that it became actually useful (and, I hope, somewhat interesting). I had been in New York, hustling around as a computer consultant and working less and less as an actor, when Whit and I visited Los Angeles to say hey to her family here and get an idea of what it might be like to live in this City of Angels (and Angles). I had a few friends from college who were all acting and had a pretty good connection with the president of one of the big three US TV networks, and I had already been in New York for five years, so it was looking like LA was the "next step". Well, longish story shorter, my friends all encouraged me to move out, and the one meeting I had with the president turned into several meetings with the network casting folks, so, two weeks after I arrived back in New York, I moved to Los Angeles. As is the way of things, none of the meetings resulted in anything (yet?), but it did not matter; LA's home now.

I am lucky enough to have several friends who were wondering where I had disappeared to and what I was doing, so I spent a lot of time writing emails that were very similar, so I thought it might be fun to start an online journal to keep people informed of my progress (and, more than often, lack thereof). And that's basically what I am doing today--but with more stuff happening. As of this writing, I am pleased to report that I am getting more and more work as an actor, and, hopefully, the experiences I relate here will be interesting to not only my friends and family, but for anyone who is curious about working in Los Angeles in the entertainment industry.

You can find my acting resume here, and if you have a project you think I might be good for, please contact my manager, Kelly Garner, at Pop Art Management; 818-997-9896.

Finally, I also work as a product manager for a software company and I will often talk about technology news and trends when it makes sense, or more often, when technology doesn't make sense. I'm also learning more about fitness and yoga, and I find myself writing about these topics well. I am also a staff writer for iFanboy.com and have a column that comes out every Wednesday. You’ll hear me on their podcasts from time to time as well.

So there you have it! Thanks for swinging by, and please, comments and feedback are welcome. While I've done this for awhile, that doesn't actually mean I'm any good at it, so suggestions are very helpful!

All the best,
mike
